Slovak households should be prepared for higher electricity and gas prices next year. The chairman of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries Lubomir Jahnatek admitted next year’s increase in energies prices for households. According to Jahnatek and energy suppliers, a dramatic increase in wholesale electricity and gas prices on global markets can be ascribed to this increase. „We do not comment on any speculations on the development of energy prices. Under the legislation, we must take into account the electricity and gas prices on the Exchanges. However, we have the instruments to correct the price in a certain way. We cannot, though, change the price on Exchange. This must be fully respected,“ Jahnatek informed the journalists. The regulator will set next year’s electricity and gas prices in autumn 2018, based on the current wholesale electricity price of 40.45 euros per 1 MWh and wholesale gas price of 18.49 euros per 1 MWh.
