General Director of Slovenske Elektrarne Branislav Strycek says that the company has all necessary funds to complete two nuclear units in Mochovce, including the completion of the fourth nuclear unit.
The completion of the third and fourth nuclear unit in Mochovce has all the money needed, General Director of Slovenske Elektrarne Branislav Strycek confirmed at the session of the Parliament’s Economic Committee. „The conditions for extending the maturity date of the loans from commercial banks and a 700-million-euro loan from Enel, one of the shareholders, by 2025 were fulfilled last Friday, August 31. The project has all the necessary funds up to the completion of the fourth nuclear unit,“ said Strycek. The budget for the project is currently set at 5.4 billion euros. This sum is not expected to increase in regard to current wholesale electricity prices on the markets. „We are certain that we can finance the completion of Mochovce NPP under the current budget amid current electricity prices. We even have a financial reserve,“ Strycek said, adding that if electricity price on the market fell from roughly 50 euros to 20 euros, Slovenske Elektrarne would have to take out more loans. The head of Slovak dominant electricity producer also confirmed that the deadline of the project will be met.
