The state-owned company Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) remains the most important player on the Slovak gas market. Alternative suppliers have repeatedly reduced SPP’s market share moderately.
Gas supplies to Slovak consumers were smooth last year, informed the economy ministry in its regular annual report. Last year, there were no serious incidents which would disrupt gas supplies for customers. „Gas supplies to all consumers were smooth and safe,“ stated the ministry. The only disruption in the gas sector was reduced gas supplies from Russia for gas utility Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP). Cuts, which amounted to more than 50% of the agreed volume on some days, has lasted from the beginning of September 2014 to early March 2015.
