Under the amendment, the appointment of the Office’s chairman will from now rests only with the cabinet. Previously, this was President’s power, while the government proposed the chairman.
Slovak MPs passed the government’s amendment to the Act on Regulation in Network Industries on Wednesday. The amendment is expected to strengthen the position of the government in regard to the activities and control of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries. Economy and Environment ministries will now be allowed to comment on Office’s pricing decisions. The appointment of the Office’s chairman will from now rests only with the cabinet. Previously, this was President’s power, while the government proposed the chairman.
