Downtime of a Bohunice Power Plant Unit Finished

BRATISLAVA, August 4, (WEBNOVINY) – Slovakia’s dominant power producer Slovenske Elektrarne, a.s. (SE) finished the scheduled downtime of the fourth unit of Bohunice nuclear power plant one day in advance. The company reported that within the general repair it partially exchanged fuel in the reactor and repaired the circulation pump and steam generator as well as other planned facilities.

“Turbo generator TG41 was connected on July 31; and, subsequently, on August 2, in the early hours, we connected turbo generator TG42 where we had exchanged high- and low-pressure components and the electric generator with auxiliary circuits within the upgrade and increased in capacity of V2 nuclear power plant units,” Slovenske Elektrarne informed. Based on the schedule for 2010, on August 10, SE will reduce capacity on the third unit by half in order to exchange turbo generator TG31 and its accessories that are necessary to increase capacity of the unit.

Slovenske Elektrarne is the largest power producer of electric energy in Slovakia and the second biggest power producer in the CEE region. Enel S.p.A. controls a 66-percent stake in SE following the completion of its privatization in April 2006, while the National Property Fund owns the remaining 34 percent. Its shareholder’s rights are executed by the Economy Ministry. The power producer operates facilities with installed capacity of 5,693.24 MW of electric energy. Last year, SE generated almost 21,392 GWh of electricity. Nuclear sources made up 65.6 percent of deliveries, 22.3 percent fell to hydropower plants, and 12.1 percent were generated in thermal power plants.
