Nuclear power plants in Slovakia were reliable and safe also in 2019, the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (UJD) reported, based on the conducted inspections. “The evaluation of nuclear safety indicators for the year 2019 together with the outcomes of the inspections allow us to say that safety of nuclear power plants operated in the Slovak Republic is reaching a high level,“ the UJD stated in its regular nuclear safety report. In 2019, the UJD did not record any emergency shutdown of the reactor or violation of the limits and conditions. “This fact proves high operating reliability of nuclear units in Jaslovske Bohunice and Mochovce,“ the UJD stated. The authority recorded only a little number of small errors at four nuclear units, but none of these failures were classified on the international scale INES 1. “The number of errors caused by the human factor and their share on the overall failures reported is satisfactory compared to other international nuclear installations,“ the UJD added.
