Slovenske Elektrarne plans to continue generating electricity at Novaky power plant from brown coal and biomass.
Stricter environmental limits set by the Brussels will also apply to Slovak coal-fired power plants from the next year. The power utility Slovenske Elektrarne, in this regard, had to invest into modernization of blocks at Novaky power plant (ENO). Slovak dominant electricity producer Slovenske Elektrarne promises to reconstruct the first and second block of the power plant Novaky B until the end of 2015 so that they meet the required European levels. The company plans to continue generating electricity at the installation in the future. The power plant Novaky B also operates less ecological units, the third and fourth block, during modernization of the first and second block. However, Slovenske Elektrarne plans to shut them down in 2016.
