BRATISLAVA, June 5, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovak Minister of Foreign Affairs Miroslav Lajcak and the Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Pavel Kuznetsov agreed on the need for a meeting of the intergovernmental Slovak-Russian Commission for Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation later this year. The press department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed SITA news agency about the meeting. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the intergovernmental commission is an important instrument that should generate projects of cooperation and support their implementation. „In this context, in particular the energy sector plays an important role for Slovakia,“ said Minister Lajcak, adding that Slovakia wants to perceive Russia as a reliable supplier of energy resources.

Minister Lajcak also discussed with the Russian Ambassador some major international political issues. „We see Russia as a strategic partner of the EU in the area of foreign policy,“ said the minister. They also spoke about the outcome of the latest EU-Russia summit, as well as the situation in Ukraine and Syria. „Slovakia wants to contribute to constructive relations between Brussels and Moscow,“ said Lajcak. „We are interested in a constructive and pragmatic dialogue in all areas without adding ideology into our relations,“ said Lajcak.
