Prime Minister Presides Security Council Meeting

BRATISLAVA, October 5, (WEBNOVINY) — After more than nine months, the Security Council of the Slovak Republic will meet in its new composition on Wednesday. This meeting will be presided over by Prime Minister Iveta Radicova for the first time. During the its previous meeting in December, the Security Council discussed information supply of crude oil and natural gas. Tomorrow, the Security Council should discuss, for example, information about a memorandum concluded between the National Security Office and Office of Special Technologies and Applications of the U.S. Federal Bureau for Investigation.

The agenda also includes an introduction of the members of the council, handing over of appointment decrees to new members of the council, introduction of the secretary and invited members of the Security Council. According to the law the Security Council has nine members. The chairperson of the Security Council is the Prime Minister and vice-chairman is one of the deputy prime ministers chosen by the chairperson of the Security Council. Other members of the Security Council are the Defense Minister, Interior Minister, Finance Minister, and Foreign Affairs Minister. Additional members of the Security Council are appointed and dismissed by the president on the basis of the Prime Minister’s proposal.
