PRAGUE, April 20, (WEBNOVINY)- On a brief visit to Prague Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico discussed several economic issues with his host, Czech Premier Petr Necas including the issue of a joint venture in railway transport. “We are prepared to discuss this topic very openly and very clearly and if created such joint venture has much better chances to survive in the region we are part of than independent railway companies,“ said Fico adding that the countries dealt with the idea already when he was the prime minister for the first time.
Fico and Necas also debated the possible entry of the Czech energy company Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (EPH) in the gas utility Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP). “The Slovak government will cooperate on condition that all will take place in line with the legislation and that interests of Slovakia as the majority shareholder will be taken into consideration,” stated Fico.
The third important economic issue the prime ministers had on the agenda on Friday was cooperation in the nuclear energy field. Fico underscored that Slovakia cannot do without nuclear energy. „And nobody can give us arguments and evidence that it is possible to survive without nuclear energy,” he added. He reported that Slovakia wants to build a brand-new nuclear block in Jaslovske Bohunice based on an agreement with the Czech Republic from 2009. It would be good he opines if both countries express positive stances towards nuclear energy.
