BRATISLAVA, December 2, (WEBNOVINY) — The procedure of Slovak judiciary authorities in recognizing and executing court verdicts in criminal proceedings by European Union members will be defined in special laws. The laws define also the rules applying to handing over a decision of a Slovak court in criminal proceedings for its recognition and execution in a different member state. One of the laws will apply to verdicts of a penal sanction other than jail time, the so-called probation verdicts. The other norm defines the procedure concerning verdicts on a prison sentence. Parliament approved both drafts on Friday. The laws should take effect in February of next year.
The bills stem from the need to incorporate into Slovak legislation European framework decisions.
