International experts are getting ready for an inspection at Mochovce NPP.
The government’s visit to the Mochovce nuclear power plant in connection with the completion of the third and fourth nuclear units has been postponed for the time being. According to the information available to the portal vEnergetike.sk, Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini is to reopen this topic in early autumn. Economy Minister Peter Ziga is also planning to visit the nuclear power plant for an inspection. His ministry is waiting for the Prime Minister’s program. The question is whether some Austrian politicians who repeatedly criticized the completion of Mochovce NPP come too. Prime Minister Pellegrini invited the former Austrian chancellor Sebastian Kurz to the Mochovce site after his criticism on the social network in early May. The snap elections will be held in Austria in September 2019. The attacks of Austrian politicians against nuclear units in Mochovce are expected to escalate since nuclear energy is likely to become the part of their pre-election campaigns. It is certain that international experts are getting ready for an inspection of Mochovce NPP. “The mission of the Operational Safety Review Team is to be held once the planned international expert inspection by the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO) is completed and before nuclear fuel at the third unit is loaded,“ a spokesman for Slovenske Elektrarne, Miroslav Sarissky, informed the portal.
