The third nuclear unit of the Mochovce NPP is closer to its commercial operation. The appeal commission, composed of external specialists, recommended the chairwoman of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (UJD), Marta Ziakova, as the second instant administration body, to reject the appeal of the Austrian Global 2000 and confirm the authority’s first-instance decision. „Currently, the second-instance body is looking into documentation and other documents and evidence and is preparing a second-instance decision draft,“ Miriam Vachova informed the SITA news agency. The third Mochovce unit is most likely to start generating electricity in the first quarter of next year. However, the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic cannot yet specify the final date of commercial operation of the nuclear unit.
