BRATISLAVA, January 19, (WEBNOVINY) — Unemployment rate in Slovakia at the end of December rose 0.24 percentage points m/m to 12.46 percent, reported the Central Office for Labor, Social Affairs and Family. In year-on-year terms, the rate of registered unemployment fell 0.20 percentage points last month. Labor offices registered altogether 334,903 unemployed people who were able to immediately start working. Compared with the end of November, this was an increase by 6,558 people and a year-on-year decline by 587.
The overall number of job applicants recorded by labor offices was 381,209 at the end of last year. This is a month-on-month growth of 6,928 people and a year-on-year increase of 1,656. At the end of the twelfth month the rate of unemployment calculated from the overall number of registered job applicants was 14.19 percent. It thus swelled by 0.26 points from the previous month, while in year-on-year terms it dropped 0.13 percentage points. The average number of job applicants reached 308,791 for the twelve months of 2010, up 138 m/m and 40,549 more y/y.
