MARTIN, May 18, (WEBNOVINY) — The administrators of the town of Martin in northern Slovakia will help the United Nations put into practice anti-corruption conventions. Martin’s Town Hall representatives were invited to join the UN team of experts thanks to their practical experience with the project Transparent City. „In June, we will be traveling to New York for the first meeting of an expert team. It’s in recognition of our work. When we participate in various international conferences on anti-corruption and transparency, the participants mostly present theoretical insights in their presentations. We always come up with specific things that work in the town of Martin, including measurable benefits and results,“ said Martin’s Mayor Andrej Hrnciar.

Representatives of Martin will be covering the area of Responsibility and Transparency – using the potential of ICT in governance in order to prevent corruption in the public sector. The town will introduce tools and modern information and communication technology, which it already uses in the project Transparent City. These include electronic auctions and market research in public procurement, e-auctions, e-opinion polls, electronic directories enabling browsing through public sector contracts, purchase orders and invoices, budgeting disclosure, information about job vacancies and their filling. The expert group will first analyze them and then incorporate them into anti-corruption and transparency recommendations of the UN.
