BRATISLAVA, February 5, (WEBNOVINY)- Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) does not support the proposal of Speaker of Parliament Richard Sulik (SaS) and his party to recall head of the opposition SMER-SD and ex-prime minister Robert Fico from the post of deputy speaker of parliament. Radicova said in the regular debate show ‚Saturday Dialogues‘ on Slovak Radio that she does not support the initiative as the reasons for Fico’s dismissal come from his past political activities when he was prime minister.
In the era of Robert Fico, parliament passed the law limiting the use of profit generated by private health insurance companies and the law allowing the state highway construction on land it does not own, about which the Constitutional Court recently ruled that they are at odds with the constitution. Sulik said that Fico had caused huge damages to Slovakia by knowingly letting parliament pass two unconstitutional bills.
Radicova however argues that these two laws are not by far Fico’s only failures. He committed them in the past but he was lawfully elected by citizens of the republic as deputy speaker of parliament. However, if he errs or breaches the law in this election term then the issue of his recall from this post will be justified, thinks Radicova.
