BRATISLAVA, December 16, (WEBNOVINY) — The new political movement established by independent MP Igor Matovic, Ordinary People and Independent Personalities, would make it to parliament if elections were held this weekend. This stems from results of an opinion poll carried out by Focus agency for the public-service Radio and Television of Slovakia (RTVS) between November 29 and December 6 on a representative sample of 1,048 respondents. Ordinary People with 5.8 percent of collected voter preferences would occupy ten seats in the 150-member parliament, which is by one more than the Freedom and Solidarity party and the Slovak National Party would have. These two parties would each garner 5.6 percent.
The opposition SMER-SD party would win 43.9 percent of the vote, which means seventy-four mandates. The SDKU-DS party would be second with 10.2 percent, followed by KDH party with 10 percent. Both parties would thus have seventeen deputies. MOST-HID party would collect 8.3 percent of the vote, translating in fourteen deputy seats.
The survey results further show that 14.9 percent of people would not participate in the elections, 22.2 percent could not say which party they would support, while the remaining 62.9 percent were potential voters.
