BRATISLAVA, August 19, (WEBNOVINY) — The Education Ministry is the first central body of state administration to be prepared for procurement using electronic auctions. The ministry organizes public procurement of guarding and security service for 2011-2013. “We believe we will save also in this way, I would say in a painless manner,” Education Minister Eduard Jurzyca (SDKU-DS) stated after the Cabinet’s session on Wednesday.
Participation in an auction in e-procurement is free-of-charge. According to the ministry’s website the first auction is to take place on September 28-30. The ministry suggests that its advantages feature not only the possibility to agree on a better price but also transparency of the procurement process. So far, e-procurement was the domain of municipalities.
The Education Ministry has announced its intention to increase transparency in spending public finances. The procurement of the security service is to prove that the ministry is serious about this. It has announced the tender in the Public Procurement Office Bulletin though it could have been announced as a below-limit contract on the ministry’s webpage. The announcement of the service procurement should be made public on the Public Procurement Office’s website on Friday.
