Wages Grew Most in ICT in September

BRATISLAVA, November 10, (WEBNOVINY) — The average nominal monthly wage went up the most in information and communication technologies in September, up by 8.1 percent y/y. Based on data released by the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic, the average nominal monthly wage in September also increased in construction sector (+5.1 percent) industry (+4.5 percent), transport and storage (+2.1 percent), selected market services (+1.6 percent), retail sector (+1.5 percent) and accommodation (+0.2 percent). The nominal wage dwindled 0.3 percent in sale and repairs of motor vehicles and 0.1 percent in wholesale sector. Stagnation was reported with pubs and restaurants.

In September, the average real wage rose in information and communication technologies (+3.6 percent), construction sector (+0.8 percent) and industry (+0.2 percent). It dropped 4.4 percent in sale and repairs of motor vehicles, 4.2 percent in wholesale sector, 4.1 percent in pubs and restaurants, 3.9 percent in accommodation, 2.7 percent in retail sector, 2.6 percent in selected market services and 2.1 percent in transportation and storage.

Employees in information and communication technologies earned the most on average in the January- September period, i.e., EUR 1,687. Industry paid EUR 806, selected market services EUR 802, wholesale sector EUR 732, sale and repairs of motor vehicles EUR 714, transportation and storage EUR 705, building industry EUR 588, accommodation EUR 551, retail sector EUR 546 and pubs and restaurants EUR 357 on average.

Compared with the same period a year ago, nominal wage went up in information and communication technologies (+9.5 percent), building sector (+4.6 percent), selected market services (+4.5 percent), industry (+4.1 percent), sale and repairs of motor vehicles (+1.3 percent), retail sector (+1.3 percent), transportation and storage (+1.1 percent), accommodation (+0.7 percent), wholesale sector (+0.5 percent) and pubs and restaurants (+0.3 percent).

Regarding the nine-month average, real wage grew 5.6 percent y/y in information and communication technologies, 0.9 percent in construction sector, 0.8 percent in selected market services and 0.4 percent in industry.
