BRATISLAVA, April 19, (WEBNOVINY) — The Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family reported a 0.07-percentage point monthly decrease in Slovakia’s registered jobless rate in March taking it to 13.69 percent. Slovakia’s unemployment rate thus returned to the January levels. Unemployment surged 0.56 percentage points y/y last month. The number of jobseekers able to take up a job immediately reached 369,845 in the observed period, coming down 1,861 from February and increasing 19,517 from a year ago.
At the end of March a total of 408,404 persons were without a job, representing a m/m drop of 3,397 and a y/y growth by 15,921. Jobless rate calculated based on the total number of jobseekers reached 15.11 percent at the end of March. It dropped 0.13 percentage points compared with February and went up 0.40 percentage points in annualized terms.
The authority however pointed out that due to the deployment of a new information system of employment services into productive operation, unemployment statistics data for March 2012 are preliminary. The deadline for processing and sending statistics from databases to the central labor office was shortened. “Updated, definitive statistics for March 2012 will be published in May 2012 together with April figures, announced the Central Office of Labor, Social Affairs and Family.
Labor offices registered almost 21,700 job applicants last month, down 4,500 from February. Compared with March 2011 it is a decrease of 4,100 persons. Outflow of job seekers from labor offices was 25,100 translating into a m/m increase of 1,900. Labor offices deregistered almost 3,700 persons less from a year ago. T
The average duration jobless registration period was 14.24 months last month.
