Unemployment in Slovakia in July Dropped to 13.27 Pct

BRATISLAVA, August 20, (WEBNOVINY) — The unemployment rate in Slovakia in July reached 13.27 percent. In a monthly comparison, this is a decrease by 0.07 percentage points. Compared with the same period a year ago, unemployment increased by 0.12 percentage points, according to data of the Central Office for Labor, Social Affairs and Family.

The number of jobseekers able to start working immediately reached 358,652 in the seventh month. Compared with June, their number fell by 1,860, but increased by 7,919 persons on yearly terms.

From the regional point of view, the highest unemployment rate in July was in Presov County of 19.3 percent. Also Banska Bystrica County and Kosice County showed above-average unemployment rate in July of 19.01 percent and 18.53 percent, respectively, the Central Labor Office reported Monday.

The number of job vacancies rose by 358 in July on the previous month to EUR 6,307. The Labor Ministry expects the joblessness rate to stabilize or slightly increase in the next period based on the expected influences of the decisive factors on the development of the registered unemployment rate on individual regional labor markets.
