Sulik Discusses Role of National Parliaments in Prague

BRATISLAVA, September 16, (WEBNOVINY) – Parliament Speakers of four Visegrad Group (V4) countries appealed to all those involved to thoroughly follow the rules and commitments based upon EU accession treaties including the Maastricht Criteria and the Lisbon Treaty during their Prague session. At the end of the two-day conference which started this Thursday, Slovak Parliament Speaker Richard Sulik proposed attaching the appeal to the final declaration. Sulik expressed belief that national parliaments will cooperate more effectively in promoting their states’ interests in relation to Brussels’ legislative activities.

Main issues discussed in Prague are roles of national parliaments in European legislation, newest development of global economy and its impacts on Visegrad countries’ economies as well as the situation in the Balkans and its influence on the four states, informed the Slovak Parliament Communication Department.
