Slovan Fans in Rome Caught with Nazi Symbols

BRATISLAVA, August 26, (WEBNOVINY) – Some of the Slovan Bratislava football club fans who went to see their club play a return match of UEFA Europa League 2011 against AS Roma in Rome this Thursday will not be able to attend any sport events in Italy for several years. As Foreign Ministry’s Petra Greksova informed SITA, some Slovak fans were prohibited from attending sports events in the country for three to five years. “They brought pyrotechnics and Nazi symbols,” she informed. According to her, the allegedly stabbed Slovak fan about whom the media reported suffered only light injuries and did not need hospitalization. She, however, underlined that this is still unconfirmed information.

Before the match started the Italians detained a Slovak bus with Slovan fans. “This was probably the radical wing, they were not even allowed into the complex,” added Greksova. Two more fans have been accused of weapon possession and a theft, enclosed the spokeswoman.
