BRATISLAVA, August 19, (WEBNOVINY) — In the first half this year, building societies in Slovakia concluded 114,700 new home savings contracts with a target sum of 996.76 million euros at the end of the six-year saving cycle. This is a slight increase compared to the first half of last year in number of contracts by 1.1 percent and in volume by 2.6 percent. Prva stavebna sporitelna contributed most to the newly signed contracts with an about 80 percent share. Of three building societies in Slovakia, only Sporitelna Wüstenrot recorded an annual decline. „This may also be due announced changes to the legislation for building societies, the resulting potential impacts and consequent indecision of clients, who hesitate whether to conclude a home savings contract by the end of this year or to wait until next year,“ said spokeswoman for Wüstenrot home savings bank Daniela Vlckova.
Midyear volume of building loans and interim loans decreased by 14.7 percent to 227.31 million euros. Only Prva stavebna sporitelna recorded a decline, by 18.5 percent to 189.17 million euros. Nevertheless, according to a statement of the home savings bank, „it is clear that the situation after the 2009 crisis be beginning to stabilize. Clients are gradually regaining courage to apply for a loan and then repay it. Compared with 2009, when the crisis peaked, growth this year was by 34.1 percent, “ said Prva stavebna sporitelna. Sporitelna Wüstenrot recorded an increase of 10 percent to 20.44 million euros. According to Vlckova, contributed to this has interest of clients in accelerated financing of their housing needs through a special offer of interim loans from Wüstenrot, which clients drew in higher amounts. The third player on the market, CSOB stavebna sporitelna recorded growth of the volume of loans by 12 percent to 17.7 million euros.
Prva stavebna sporitelna was established on November 16, 1992. The largest bank in Slovakia, Slovenska Sporitelna, a.s. holds a 9.98-percent stake in the company. Austrian Erste Group Bank has 25.02 percent. Bausparkasse Schwabisch Hall AG and Austrian Raiffeisen Bausparkassen Holding G.m.b.H. hold 32.5 percent each. Sporitelna Wüstenrot was founded in 1993. Bausparkasse Wüstenrot Austria AG owns 60 percent of the shares and the German Wüstenrot & Württembergische AG holds 40 percent. CSOB stavebna sporitelna was founded in the year 2000 and is 100-percent subsidiary of CSOB SR, which belongs to the Belgian group KBC.
