BRATISLAVA, December 10, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovakia’s trade surplus in October increased significantly. According to preliminary data of the Statistic Office, exports exceeded imports in the tenth month by EUR 145.3 million. In September, the surplus represented EUR 39.9 million. The Statistics Office revised September trade balance downward by over EUR 23 million. Compared with October 2009, the surplus this year is EUR 160 million lower.
In October, exports totaled EUR 4.721 billion, which was 16.7 percent more in a year-over-year comparison. Imports rose by 22.4 percent to EUR 4.576 billion.
In the ten-month period, the Statistics Office reported a 22-percent increase in exports to EUR 39.704 billion and a 23.9-percent growth in imports to EUR 39.215 billion. Foreign trade closed the ten-month period with a surplus of EUR 489.4 million, which is almost EUR 400 million less from the same period a year ago.
