BRATISLAVA/TRNAVA, January 9, (WEBNOVINY) — An Austrian with nearly two per mille of alcohol in his blood was stopped by Slovak police in the town of Trnava during the weekend. The twenty-seven year old driver of BMW 730 was stopped by a police patrol. As the breath alcohol testing ended with a positive result and the driver was found to have 1.96 per mille of alcohol in his blood, he will be facing criminal charges based on the recently amended Traffic Code. Spokesman for Trnava police Michal Hanus told SITA news agency that the foreigner faces charges of general endangerment under the influence of addictive substances. If he is found guilty, he can spend up to one year behind bars.
Based on the amended Traffic Code that came into force in Slovakia on September 1, 2011, an individual who drives with more than one per mille of alcohol in blood (0.476 mg per liter) is charged with a criminal offense and could be sentenced to one-year imprisonment.
