BRATISLAVA, June 21, (WEBNOVINY) — While discussing above-standard relations between Poland and Slovakia, President of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski wasn’t very keen on also discussing the construction of the House of Slovak Culture in the southern Polish town of Jablonka. The land on which the house was supposed to be built was bought by the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad in 2009; Poland was supposed to pay for constructing the building.

“I propose constructing the house and a road to Zilina,” Komorowski answered the reporter’s question after meeting Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic in Bratislava on Tuesday. Gasparovic sees a lot of reserves in construction of a road interconnection between Slovakia and Poland. As he informed at a press conference after the meeting, both presidents also discussed construction of the road, which is currently on a hold. According to Komorowski, it would be ideal if the governments made decisions in favor of finishing the construction of roads linking both countries.

The Polish president also wishes the natural gas pipeline interconnection across the Slovak-Polish border to be constructed as soon as possible and plans to discuss his expectations with Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova later on Tuesday.

Komorowski considers the relations between both countries to be above-standard and according to him, trade between both countries is increasing, as commercial exchange reached a level by 20 percent higher than before the crisis. He praised Slovakia for fulfilling its goals as country chairing the Visegrad Grouping – above all creating a joint battle group of the Visegrad Group under the EU mandate to be ready for operations in the first half of 2016. Slovakia plans supplying commanding officers, a mechanized brigade with combat vehicles and with explosives experts to the battlegroup.
