BRATISLAVA, June 30, (WEBNOVINY) – The Civic Conservative Party (OKS), whose four deputies were elected to parliament on the MOST-HID candidate list, will only vote for such changes in the law on access to information in parliament, which will not restrict access to information. The draft amendment is currently in the interdepartmental review.
“OKS appeals to the Cabinet members, departments that submitted remarks to the draft amendment in interdepartmental review, to abandon such remarks which would cause restrictions in the citizens’ right to information,” reads a statement signed by all four OKS MPs Peter Zajac, Ondrej Dostal, Peter Osusky and Frantisek Sebej.
They further stated that “curtailing the law on access to information would be in conflict with the government’s program document and with current government’s effort to achieve as much transparency as possible.” OKS therefore expects the Justice Ministry to reject those remarks which they consider as curbing the quality of citizen right to information and that the Cabinet will submit a draft amendment to parliament which would improve access to information.
