BRATISLAVA, March 12, (WEBNOVINY) — The election winner SMER-SD will get over EUR 23.7 million over four years from the state budget for the outcome of the March 10 elections. This is by far the highest sum that will be allocated to a political party for the 2012 elections. SMER-SD will receive EUR 8.92 million for garnered votes. In the coming four years the same amount from state coffers in the form of contribution for its activity will gradually flow to SMER’s treasury. The party’s budget will be bolstered by an additional EUR 5.85 million for parliamentary mandates.
The amounts other parties will receive represent merely fractions of the volume to be paid to the election winner. Christian Democrats (KDH) will obtain EUR 5.05 million, Ordinary People and Independents Personalities EUR 4.94 million, MOST-HID EUR 4 million, SDKU-DS almost EUR 3.5 million and SaS EUR 3.4 million. SNS and the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK), which did not make it to the parliament, will get EUR 1.83 million and EUR 1.72 million respectively, as their election result exceeded 3 percent. Political parties will thus share more than EUR 48.1 million among themselves.
The elections will also improve the state budget because eighteen political parties that received less than two percent of votes will not get their 16,596-euro election deposit back. On the whole, the state budget will be bolstered by EUR 298,728. The deposit is returned only to parties that collect at least two percent in the elections.
