BRATISLAVA, September 9, (WEBNOVINY) — A report of the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic released on Friday shows that the highest average nominal monthly wage in the first seven months of this year was in the information and communication sector at 1,669 euros. The average nominal monthly wage in selected market services was 802 euros, 804 euros in industry and 732 euros in wholesale. The average nominal monthly wage in the distribution and repairs of motor vehicles represented 716 euros. The average wage in restaurants and pubs was 356 euros.
Compared with the same period one year ago, the average wage grew most in the ICT sector by 8 percent. In selected market services, the wage increased by 5.1 percent, in construction and industry by an equal 3.9 percent, and in the distribution and repairs of motor vehicles by 1.6 percent. The retail sector saw a growth in the average wage of 1.3 percent. The average nominal wage in pubs and restaurants did not change from a year ago.
On average for the first seven months of this year, the real monthly wage in information and communication activities grew by 4.2 percent, in selected market services by 1.4 percent and in both construction and industry by 0.3 percent. On the other hand, real wages dropped in restaurants and pubs by 3.5 percent, in transportation and storage by 3.1 percent, and in accommodation and the wholesale sector by 2.8 percent.
In July alone, the average nominal monthly wage rose in the ICT sector by 21.4 percent y/y, in industry by 3.7 percent, and in transportation and storage, as well as in selected market services by 1.7 percent. The average nominal wage dropped 0.4 percent in wholesale and 0.1 percent in the distribution and repairs of motor vehicles. It did not change in accommodation.
The real monthly wage in July grew only in the ICT sector, up 17.1 percent. The real wage dropped in wholesale by 4 percent, in distribution and repairs of motor vehicles by 3.7 percent and in accommodation by 3.6 percent.
