BRATISLAVA, November 11, (WEBNOVINY) – After two months with a deficit, Slovakia’s foreign trade reported a surplus again in September. According to preliminary data of the Statistic Office, exports exceeded imports in the ninth month by EUR 63 million. However, the September surplus is EUR 178 million lower than a year ago. In August, Slovakia’s foreign trade posted a deficit of EUR 246.8 million according to revised data.
In September, exports totaled EUR 4.417 billion, which was 19 percent more in a year-over-year comparison. Imports rose by 25.4 percent to EUR 4.354 billion.
In the January-September period, the Statistics Office reported a 22.1-percent increase in exports to EUR 34.745 billion and a 24-percent growth in imports to EUR 34.388 billion. The foreign trade closed the ninth-month period with a surplus of EUR 358.7 million, which was EUR 354.9 million less from the same period a year ago.
