First ZSSK Trains Will Travel at 160 kph

BRATISLAVA, December 6, (WEBNOVINY) – Starting from December 12, selected trains in Slovakia will be able to travel at 160 kph speed on the railway sections from Svaty Jur to Nove Mesto nad Vahom and back between Nove Mesto nad Vahom – Bratislava-Raca. The train speed will be increased together with the new passenger train schedule. This section of the railway has been completely modernized for the 160 kph speed, which the Railway Regulatory Authority authorized in November. The construction of the railway corridor with technical parameters sufficient for the 160 kph speed began in 2000, it was finished in 2010.

Construction of further sections northeast of Nove Mesto nad Vahom began in 2009, ZSR spokeswoman Martina Pavlikova informed SITA news agency.
