TRENCIN, August 21, (WEBNOVINY) — Representatives of the US military took over a flight simulator for training crews of military cargo planes from representatives of an international consortium including Slovak producers of the system in Trencin on Tuesday. G 222 FLT flight simulator is the biggest of the six flight training systems supplied to a US customer. The value of the contract is over USD 20 million and the price of the flight simulator handed over today is some EUR 2.5 million. Crews of military cargo aircraft of the Afghan National Army Air Force will train on them coached by US instructors.
US Ambassador to Slovakia Theodore Sedgwick stated on this occasion that the handing over of the flight simulator is another step towards building of a fighting-fit Afghan Air Force. It is an important step on the way to build Afghan armed forces capable of taking over responsibility for security of their country, he said. In today’s event, cooperation between the US Army and the Slovak-US team of suppliers came to its fruition. Sedgwick added that this cooperation is at the same time support for business and jobs.
The Trencin-based company Virtual Reality Media that cooperated with the Slovak state-run joint stock company Letecke Opravovne Trencin and US companies Fidelity Technologies Incorporated and Aeronautical Systems Engineering (ASE) won the contract. Julius Berith of Virtual Reality Media said that Slovak companies won the tender in strong international competition thanks to quality and reliability.
