BRATISLAVA. October 20, (WEBNOVINY) — The rate of registered unemployment in Slovakia increased 0.25 percentage points month-over-month to 13.37 percent in September. The Central Office for Labor, Social Affairs and Family reported that the number of jobseekers able to take up a job immediately reached 356,650 in the observed period. Compared with August, the number grew by 6,765 persons.
On the whole, labor offices registered 390,559 jobless persons in the ninth month, which was a m/m growth of 6,339. The unemployment rate calculated from the overall number of jobseekers represented 14.64 percent, which was 0.24 percentage points more from August 2011.
The m/m increase of the jobless rate was caused mainly by an increase in graduates and an important inflow of voluntarily unemployed from the registers of labor offices, says the Central Labor Office. It underscored that fewer graduates have registered in September despite the fact that more pupils and students completed study this year. It means that graduates were more successful in finding jobs than last year.
Labor offices in Slovakia reported 41,867 new jobseekers in September, a figure higher by 19,631 versus August. The outflow of jobseekers last month was 35,528, up 11,205 from the previous month. The average duration of registration in September represented 14.06 months, up 0.06 months from August.
