Unemployment Rate in August Dropped to 12.19 Pct

BRATISLAVA, September 20, (WEBNOVINY) — Unemployment rate in Slovakia at the end of August dropped 0.14 percentage points m/m to 12.19 percent, reported the Central Office for Labor. In year-on-year terms, the rate of registered unemployment went up 0.14 percentage points last month. At the end of the eighth month, labor offices registered altogether 327,467 unemployed people who were able to immediately start working. Compared with the end of July, this was a decrease of 3,758 people, while on a year-on-year basis it was an increase of 8,100 workers.

The overall number of job applicants recorded by labor offices was 370,671 in late August. This is a month-on-month decrease of 4,937 people and a year-on-year increase of 15,630 job seekers At the end of the eighth month the rate of unemployment calculated from the overall number of registered job applicants was 13.79 percent, down 0.19 percentage points m/m and up 0.39 percentage points y/y.
