Unemployment in Slovakia in June Rose to 13.34 Percent

BRATISLAVA, July 20, (WEBNOVINY) — The unemployment rate in Slovakia in June reached 13.34 percent. In a monthly comparison, this is an increase of 0.15 percentage points. Compared with the same period last year, unemployment increased by 0.36 percentage points, according to data of the Central Office for Labor, Social Affairs and Family. Compared with May, the number of job seekers who can start working immediately increased. While in May it was 356 322, in June labor offices registered 360,512 such people.

The unemployment rate has risen in all counties except for Banska Bystrica County, where it fell by 0.03 percentage points. Unemployment grew up in Presov County, where in June it reached 19.66 percent. Along with Presov County, unemployment above the national average was also in Banska Bystrica County with 19.09 percent and Kosice County with 18.64 percent. At the district level, a rise in unemployment was recorded in 56 districts of Slovakia’s 79 districts. The highest rate of unemployment was reported in Rimavska Sobota District at 33.70 percent and the lowest in Bratislava 1st district at 3.33 percent. At the end of June, job seekers could choose from reported 5,949 vacancies. Most of them were in Bratislava County with 1,447 offered jobs and at fewest, 542 in Kosice.
