BRATISLAVA, August 30, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovakia has on Tuesday joined the group of states which decided to officially recognize the regime of Libyan rebels as the official government. “In connection with development of the situation, which confirmed the increasing role of the National Transitional Council of Libya, as of August 30, the Slovak Republic deems National Transitional Council the country’s only legitimate representative,” informed the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s press department.
The Foreign Affairs Ministry is convinced that the National Transitional Council will guarantee the respect of laws, justice and human rights to all of the country’s citizens. This would have a multifaceted support of the government of Slovakia. Slovakia further expects that the Libyan authorities and the broad public will succeed in finding solutions of imminent problems which Libyan society faces connected to transforming the country. Minister Dzurinda’s department also sends condolences regarding the high numbers of civilian casualties during current armed conflict.
