BRATISLAVA, March 31, (WEBNOVINY) – The Cabinet will kickstart the economy and employment by the end of this election term, stated Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) during regular question time in parliament on Thursday. “We pledged to solve the issue,” she emphasized in reaction to a question by MP Marko Vargovcak (SDKU-DS) as to whether the Cabinet is able to react to a global price
As Radicova highlighted, price growth is a global phenomenon and Slovakia is not an island. She finds it absurd that SMER-SD leader Robert Fico is accusing her government of being responsible for the price increase. “For the past two to three months we have heard nothing but attacks, lies and accusations from the opposition. I will not engage in this type of politics because it is the same politics Robert Fico applied from 1998 to 2006 and prophesied that the government policy would lead to collapse,” she emphasized.
The prime minister also underscored that the leader of the strongest opposition party quotes sentences out of context and uses them as they suit him. She pointed to the case of thermal power plant privatization which was called election fraud by Fico, while, in her opinion, it was actually a rescue mission, as the plant had huge investment debt. “I believe that citizens can tell lies from the truth and will not let themselves be misled by intimidation,” Radicova stated, adding that at the end of the election term it will be clear who lied.
