BRATISLAVA, March 10, (WEBNOVINY)- Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova has suggested that the concept of an individual social security fund for the self-employed be prepared. According to her, self-proprietors will then be able to opt for this fund “fully aware of lower levies, and also lower compensations.” According to Radicova, when self-employed persons retire, they receive pensions from funds to which employees contribute with higher levies, based on the solidarity principle. The prime minister believes it is unfair for employees to contribute to the pensions of those who pay much less in social security insurance.
The Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family does not know the details of the prepared special fund for the self-employed. According to ministry spokeswoman Slavomira Selesova, it is necessary to wait for the outcome of the discussion on changes to the system of taxes and levies. Rado Bato, the prime minister’s spokesman, said that the proposal of a new fund is in progress, adding that it will be consulted with the Labor Ministry once prepared.
