Painful Budget Brings the First Fruits, Says PM Radicova

STRECNO, March 19, (WEBNOVINY)- The starting consolidation of public finances and curtailing corruption ad cronyism have paved the way to the trend of gradual growth of employment, said Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU-DS) at the Saturday’s meeting of the central board of her party in Strecno.

The SDKU Deputy Chairwoman recapitulated eight months of her government’s rule. She underscored that after they took over the republic with the high general government deficit, growing debt and peaking unemployment and in the situation when 11 percent of citizens are at poverty risk and two-thirds of citizens earn less than EUR 500 monthly, the government takes all necessary steps to uplift the quality of life in Slovakia. She said that though painful, the adopted state budget brings the first fruits in form of the over 11-percent saving of the state in the first month. Radicova said that they had started with reducing pays of constitutional officials, cutting wages and layoffs in the state administration and the result is the government consumption, which is considerably lower than ever in the past.

The beginning of consolidation of public finances, transparency and curtailing corruption and cronyism bring the first results when more investors are coming here and new jobs are opened. According to the Statistics Office, said Radicova the new trend is here of gradual increasing of employment, industrial output increased by 28 percent and wage growth is 3.2 percent. Moreover, the statistics authority says that the trend will continue, highlighted the SDKU-DS Deputy Chairwoman.
