BRATISLAVA, July 21, (WEBNOVINY) — The number of recipients of unemployment benefits stagnated in June. The social security provider Socialna Poistovna paid out the benefit to 43,300 individuals in the sixth month of this year, which is the same figure as in previous month. On an annual basis, the number of beneficiaries dropped by 1,800, according to figures released by Socialna Poistovna. In the first half of this year, Socialna Poistovna paid the benefit to 43,100 people on average on a monthly basis. It is 4,000 people fewer than the average number of recipients in the same period of last year.
Terms for eligibility for unemployment benefits eased as of early September 2010. The unemployed who have been paying unemployment insurance for two of the past three years became eligible to receive the benefit. Pursuant to the previous rules, the unemployed were required to pay the social insurance at least for three of the past four years.
