BRATISLAVA, June 16, (WEBNOVINY) — The public-service broadcaster RTVS has filed a lawsuit with the Special Prosecutor’s Office against former head of Slovak Television Stefan Niznansky on Wednesday. RTVS presents facts in its motion that might serve as evidence that a crime has been committed, informed RTVS director Miloslava Zemkova at a meeting of the RTVS Council on Thursday.

“RTVS has a good reason to suppose that former director general Stefan Niznansky acted at odds with the duty of economical and effective handling of Slovak Television’s assets and also against legal rules on public procurement . This evokes a suspicion that a crime may have been committed of violation of duties in administration of entrusted assets and a crime of machinations in public procurement and a public auction, reads the statement presented by Zemkova.

Zemkova informed that STV and consequently RTVS have suffered damages of at least EUR 127,505 in association with Niznansky’s actions while further damage incurred is expected to climb to EUR 470,653 She specified that at stake are flaws in procurement and settlement of legal services in the STV’s legal dispute involving Studio Beta, to which the Supreme Audit Office drew attention in the protocol from its audit of STV in 2010.
