BRATISLAVA. November 30, (WEBNOVINY) — Municipal elections in Slovakia will be repeated in 24 towns and villages. The reason is not having elected all municipal representatives – councilors or mayors. The municipal elections on November 27 took place in 2,926 municipalities. Mayors were not elected in 17 towns and villages, elections to the municipal councils will have to take place again in nine municipalities. The Speaker of Parliament, Richard Sulik, set the date for the new elections on March 12, his secretary Tatiana Tothova told SITA news agency. According to the relevant law, the Speaker of Parliament sets the date for new elections within fourteen days of announcement of election results. The official deadline is December 12.
