BRATISLAVA, August 23, (WEBNOVINY) — The number of passengers of Bratislava Airport grew 3.2 percent in July to 244,500 compared with last year. The reported increase accounts for 7,600 clients. For the first time this year, the airport served more passengers on an annual basis. So far this year, the highest number of passengers passed through the airport in July. Compared to June their number went up 36.6 percent or 65,510 people. Over the first seven months of this year, the airport reported a y/y drop in the number of clients when their number shrank 5.3 percent to 923,330. However, the fall in passengers was more moderate in the January-July period than the H1 result. The difference was 2.8 percentage points.
Airport Bratislava reported a return of a positive operating result, though unlike in the seventh month of last year this July the airport had to do without the airline SkyEurope which used to be an important air carrier before it went bankrupt, informed the Bratislava Airport’s spokeswoman Dana Madunicka.
The biggest Slovak airport served 1.71 million clients last year, down 23 percent or 508,600, compared with 2008. The airport plans the same number of passengers this year.
