BRATISLAVA, November 14, (WEBNOVINY)- The opposition will submit a motion in Parliament to oust Justice Minister Tomas Borec. Chairman of opposition SDKU-DS Pavol Freso said that the main reason behind is the fact that the minister did not support on Wednesday the debate on the condition of the judiciary. “We are filing a motion in order to start a discussion and to ask him whether it is not necessary to discuss it,” said Freso. Another reason to dismiss the minister is the inactivity of the government and the condition of the judiciary. Borec will be the first minister in this election term to face ousting. According to Chairman of another opposition party MOST-HID Bela Bugar, it is more than irresponsible not to discuss the judiciary in Parliament. He drew attention to the fact that there have not been submitted draft laws to improve the situation in the judiciary during the six months since the new Cabinet took power. Critics of Supreme Court President Stefan Harabin have been removed from the Judicial Council. “There are topics to be discussed,” Bugar said.

The justice department is preparing serious and deep reforms in the judiciary for which its previous management did not have courage, says Justice Minister Tomas Borec. “These measures will be to the benefit of the people and it will not be a duel against one man as performed by Ms. Zitnanska when she was Justice Minister. These measures will be aimed at making court proceedings more effective and quicker and at improving principally law enforceability,” Borec told journalists on Wednesday. According to him, everybody should be aware that it is impossible to implement changes through some „judiciary package“ in two months, half a year or a year.

Supreme Court President Stefan Harabin believes that politicians from political parties, who are suspected, based on the Gorilla book, of receiving the biggest bribes in the European Union, are responsible for the bad state of law enforcement. “The condition of the judiciary is a result of reforms carried out by politicians Lipsic and Zitnanska who had the judiciary under control for the longest period of time. Their credibility is, according to opinion polls, negligible and yet they are not willing to withdraw from the public life but dictate the society their ideas,” reads the Harabin’s standpoint.
