BRATISLAVA, October 12, (WEBNOVINY) — The growth rate of consumer prices in Slovakia slowed slightly in September. According to the Statistics Office, annual inflation rate measured by the national consumer price index was 3.6 percent in September, while in August it was 3.7 percent. On average for the first nine months of this year, consumer prices rose year-on-year by 3.7 percent. In monthly terms, prices in September compared to August increased by 0.3 percent, while in August the monthly increase was 0.1 percent.
Fastest year-on-year growth of 8.1 percent was recorded in transport prices. Next were prices in education with growth of 6 percent, prices grew by 5.6 percent of health care, by 5.2 percent of food and soft drinks, miscellaneous goods and services by 3.9 percent, hotels, cafes and restaurants by 3.3 percent, housing, water , electricity, gas and other fuels by 3 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco by 2.7 percent. Prices also increased of recreation and culture by 2.1 percent, clothing and footwear by 1.7 percent, postal and telecommunication services by 0.8 percent, as well as furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance by 0.5 percent.
In monthly terms, prices increased by 3.5 percent of education, by 0.9 percent of transport, hotels, cafes and restaurants, by 0.4 percent of furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance, by 0.3 percent of clothing and footwear, by 0.2 percent of foodstuffs and soft drinks, and by 0.1 percent of miscellaneous goods and services. Prices of alcoholic beverages and tobacco fell by 0.1 percent. Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, health, postal and telecommunications services, and recreation and culture remained at the level of the previous month.
