Industrial Price Growth in Slovakia at 1.8 Percent in April

BRATISLAVA, May 28, (WEBNOVINY) — The growth rate of prices in the Slovak industry slowed in April to 1.8 percent from 2.6 percent in March. On average for the first four months of this year, prices in industry rose by 2.3 percent. In a monthly comparison, prices were even slightly lower in April, by 0.1 percent, while in March compared to February they rose by 1 percent, the Statistics Office reported on Monday.

Prices of industrial producers for the domestic market in April increased year-on-year by 3.8 percent. Prices in mining and quarrying grew by 8 percent, electricity, gas, steam and cooled air by 7.3 percent, water supply, sewerage, and waste management by 2.7 percent and prices in manufacturing by 1.4 percent. In a monthly comparison, prices for the domestic marked did not change. Thereby, prices increased in mining and quarrying by 1 percent, in industrial manufacturing by 0.8 percent, and water supply, sewerage, waste management by 0.3 percent. Prices of electricity, gas, steam and cooled air fell by 1.1 percent in April compared to March.

Export prices in April increased year-on-year by 0.4 percent, whereby the prices of electricity, gas, steam and cooled air grew by 7.1 percent, mining and quarrying by 1.9 percent and industrial manufacturing by 0.3 percent. In a monthly comparison, export prices declined 0.2 percent due to lower prices of electricity, gas, steam and cooled air by 13.6 percent. However, compared with March, prices increased in industrial manufacturing by 0.6 percent, and in mining and quarrying by 0.5 percent.

Since the beginning of the year versus the same period last year, prices of industrial producers for export grew by 1.3 percent owing to higher prices of electricity, gas, steam and cooled air by 7.1 percent, mining and quarrying by 4.5 percent and industrial manufacturing by 1.2 percent.
