BRATISLAVA, April 14, (WEBNOVINY) — Police Corps President Jaroslav Spisiak does not expect eventual admiration or recognition from the opposition SNS leader, Jan Slota. „If SNS Chairman Jan Slota expressed admiration for me or excessive recognition, I would start thinking about whether I have been doing my job well and I might even feel ashamed,” stated Spisiak in reaction to the latest criticism of his person voiced by Jan Slota. Spisiak restated that he is among police officers against whom the most criminal complaints have been filed, or other motions, both signed and anonymous. „These motions have been filed directly by persons within the realm of organized crime, or persons close to them, or even former police officers who had to leave the Police Corps, mainly due to my initiative,” explained the police chief.

Spisiak argues that since he has been occupying managerial posts in the corps, criminal motions have not been filed by a citizen protected by the police or who should have been protected against criminal activities, or even a person involved in the fight between criminality and Police. „I am personally proud of this fact in particular, as no investigation or motions against my person confirmed any abuse of my powers or any illegal activity conducted by me,” Spisiak stated, adding that in almost all cases it was proven that the activity either had not happened or he was wrongfully accused.

The police chief is prepared to present evidence and explanations regarding the cases reported by media to the interior minister or other competent bodies. Spisiak stressed that he would not do so through the media, as he has never done before, either.

On Thursday, Slota accused the police president of damaging the police in order to prevent it from fulfilling its duties. “He is devastating the police work; this is not called reform, but an artificially created, fabricated chaos, which is literally to paralyze the police work,” Slota announced at a news conference dedicated to Spisiak’s work in the post of Police Corps chief. „No comment,“ responded interior minister’s spokesman Gabor Grendel to the question whether the minister would look into Spisiak’s past with regard to Slota’s accusations.

Slota further addressed Spisiak a series of questions, such as how many disciplinary proceedings he has faced, their subject matter, how many times has he been declared as incapable to carry out any work in the Police Corps, etc. Slota stated that he knows the answers, but would like to hear them from Spisiak.

Spisiak remarked that police officers are not perceived positively by all citizens, especially when the police applies repressive lawful measures against them. “I am fully aware of this and willing to put up with any criticism of my person as it simply belongs to my status of being a police officer,” Spisiak concluded.
