TRENCIN, September 15, (WEBNOVINY) — The ice hockey stadium in Trencin is the location where the public paid their last respect to Pavol Demitra, the tragically deceased captain of the Slovak Republic’s national ice hockey team, who died along with all members of his current KHL team in a plane crash in Russia a week ago. People from all across Slovakia began queuing in front of the stadium since seven in the morning. From 10:00 to 14:00, the public had the opportunity to come to bow before the coffin with the body and lay flowers next to it. At one point, several thousand people waited in front of the stadium.
The official part of the funeral services started at 15:00 in the presence of prominent personalities of ice hockey, sports, and public life from Slovakia and the world.
