Coalition would Fail to Form Government, Survey Shows

BRATISLAVA, February 15, (WEBNOVINY) – The incumbent coalition quartet would not be able to form a government if the parliamentary elections were held during past weekend, shows a survey carried out by Focus polling company. Between February 1 and February 8 the agency surveyed 1,022 respondents over eighteen. Poll participants were asked to answer the following question: “Imagine that the parliamentary elections were held this weekend and the following parties would run for mandate. Which party would you vote for?”

SMER-SD would garner 43.2 percent, followed by SDKU-DS (15.2 percent) and KDH (10.2 percent). The liberal party SaS would collect 9.1 percent and 6 percent of respondents would vote for MOST-HID. The SNS is the last party to make it to the parliament harvesting 5.4 percent.

SMK (4.6 percent) and LS-HZDS (2.2 percent) would fail in the ballot again. Two percent of respondents expressed support for KSS and 1 percent for SDL. The Green Party would collect 0.7 percent and People’s Party Our Slovakia 0.4 percent.

Based on the above figures, SMER-SD would occupy 73 seats in the parliaments, SDKU-DS 26, KDH 17, SaS 15, MOST-HID 10 and SNS nine. The survey showed that 19.3 percent of those polled would not participate in the ballot and 12.9 percent were undecided or did not say whether they would attend the vote.
